Registration

This page is out of date and will shortly be refreshed for the 2023 season.

This page contains important information in relation to player registration with us. There are links at the bottom of this page to our Welcome Pack which we encourage you to read along with a copy of our player registration form. If you have any questions on any of the information on this page, please contact your team manager in the first instance or the club if you need any further information.

What we need to register a player

Players must be registered with the FA as a club player before they can play for any FA England Accredited Football club.

For any new player, as well as the registration form, we must also receive a player photo in a typical passport style (though smiling is allowed) and the team manager must see proof of age to confirm they are valid for their team, typically a passport or birth certificate.

For existing players registering at the start of a new season, we will just need a registration form though the FA require a photo refresh at the Under 13 and Under 16 age groups.

Players from Under 16 upwards should also provide an email address which is used on the FA 'Whole Game' site as part of their registration.

Player details are then entered into the FA ‘Whole Game’ site which allows team managers to produce team sheets for match day. Note this process can take up to two weeks especially at the start of a season when all clubs are registering their players for the upcoming season.

Registration Form

The registration form is we think straight forward but we'd like to highlight that it's important it's filled out in full.

Player & Parent / Guardian Details

We must have a confirmed email address of at least one parent / guardian and this is to allow us to contact you about player, team or club information only. The only location outside the club this will be used is as part of the player registration process. Players from Under 16 upwards need an email address again as part of the registration proess with the FA.

Medical Details

We ask for player medical details, of particular interest are respiratory concerns like Asthma or any known alergies that can be impacted while in an outside environment. Please use the back of the form to add any more details needed.

Photo and Video Policy

We require parents to confirm they understand our policy on taking of photos and videos. There are two tick boxes in this section and the first to confirm you accept this policy must be ticked or we cannot complete the registration. The second is optional.

Payment

We require parents to confirm how they would like to pay the club subscription fee.

Consent

Finally, we ask our players and parents / guardians to sign up to our codes of conduct as detailed on this page below with parents / guardians also accepting our data protection and privacy policies which are available at https://www.lawnswoodjuniors.co.uk/docs.

Player Code of Conduct (All players)

The registration form asks our players to sign up to our code of conduct, the key points of which are as follows:

In both training and matches, I will…

  • Always play to the best of my ability
  • Play fairly – I won’t cheat, complain or waste time
  • Respect my team mates and my coach / manager
  • Listen and respond to what my coach / team manager tells me
  • Respect the other team and the referee, without them there is no football!
  • Shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of every game on matchday
  • Talk to someone I trust or the club welfare officer if I’m unhappy about anything at my club
  • I will follow the player respect guidelines posted at https://www.lawnswoodjuniors.co.uk/we-only-do-positive

Player Code of Conduct (Under 16 +) : Yellow / Red Cards

I will follow the player code of conduct as above but I also understand that I'm now in an age group where referees are more likely to issue yellow and even red cards and these result in fines issued by the FA to the club.

The club policy in line with most clubs is that any fine recieved by the club as a result of my yellow or red card will need to be paid for by me or my parent / guardian. However, I also understand the club will try to be fair with me as sometimes yellow cards are issued for one off genuine sporting incidents like a slightly mistimed tackle or may be issued at times where the coaches feel the decision by the referee was harsh and in those types of cases, the club may decide not to pass the fine onto me. Cards issued to me for dissent or unsporting behaviour will never be paid for by the club and if I start picking up frequent yellow cards, the club will not pay for them.

I also understand unpaid fines will lead to my suspension from playing by the FA barring me from playing for any club until it is paid. My team manager will have access to the fines tariff which is subject to change but the current fine for a yellow card is £12.

Parent and Spectators Code of Conduct

We also ask parents / guardians to sign up to a code of conduct as follows:

While attending both training and matches, I will…

  • Applaud effort as well as success
  • Always respect the match officials’ decisions
  • Remain outside the field of play and behind the respect barrier unless invited in by coaches or officials
  • Let the coaches do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do
  • Never criticise players for making a mistake – mistakes are part of learning
  • Encourage the players to respect the opposition, referee and match officials
  • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour with match officials or other spectators
  • Remember it's their game and help them enjoy it

I understand that failure to comply with the above could result in…

  • A verbal warning issued from the club or a league official
  • A meeting being arranged with the club committee, league or county FA welfare officer
  • Being asked to leave the match venue by a club official
  • A request from the club not to attend future games
  • A suspension or removal of club membership
  • An order to leave the club along with any dependents

I am fully aware that while the taking of photographs and videos is allowed, I must first ensure that the club has parental consent from all player’s in shot on a photo or video on both teams if I plan to share or publish them in a public domain or on social media. Failure to comply with this can be viewed as serious and I may be asked to take the images or videos down and attend a meeting with the club committee.

I understand that managers and coaches are unpaid volunteers who give up their free time to work with the team. I will give them my support and accept that they will make mistakes and may at times make decisions I do not agree with.

I will contact the club if I see or hear anything taking place that breaches our safeguarding, equality or anti-bullying policies published at https://www.lawnswoodjuniors.co.uk/safeguarding and I will take any issues to the club Welfare Officer or FA Safeguarding team where necessary.
