How to Report an Issue

This page contains details on the 5 ways to report any issues that are beyond the scope of discussing with your team manager. It also details the FA 'Whistle Blowing' policy.

Nothing is more important than the welfare and safety of a child under our care and not reporting an issue is not an option, if you see it, report it!

As part of our FA Chartered Standard commitment, below are details on how to contact the West Riding FA Safeguarding team with links to their site.

The 5 ways to report an issue

There are some useful resources on how to report an issue on the FA website but the key 5 ways are as follows:

  1. To your club or league Designated Safeguarding Officer (Club Welfare Officer)
  2. To the West Riding County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer.
  3. By emailing The FA Safeguarding Team at safeguarding@thefa.com
  4. If urgent and you cannot contact your club, league or County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, you should call the NSPCC 24-hour helpline on 0808 800 5000
  5. If it is an emergency because a child or children are at immediate risk, then call the Police or Children’s Social Care in your area.

Reporting an issue to the club

If an issue cannot be dealt with by the team coaches, any incidents can be reported to any club official including our Club Welfare Officer. All club officials details are on the 'Club Officials' page.

Reporting an issue to the FA

Issues can be reported to either our county FA (West Riding County FA) or the FA itself by email to safeguarding@thefa.com. There are some useful resources on both the county and national FA sites, see the link below.

Whistle Blowing

Whistle-blowing in a safeguarding context means revealing and raising concerns over misconduct or malpractice within an organisation, or within an independent structure associated with it. It can be used as an early-warning system or when it’s recognised that appropriate actions have not been taken.

This approach or policy is adopted in many different walks of life. Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague’s conduct towards a child or young person can also use whistleblowing by calling 0800 169 1863 and asking for The FA’s safeguarding team, or via email to: safeguarding@thefa.com
