Headingley AFC

Lawnswood Junior Football Club is a community club and proud to provide young football players a facility to play football, develop, be competitive, get fit but above all else, enjoy the game. Inevitably though, those players grow up and hopefully some of them will have enjoyed their time with us so much that they will wish to keep on playing as they become young adults.

We made the decision to look for a senior club that we could work with to provide a pathway for players to develop and continue in the game beyond their time with us. It soon became clear that Headingley AFC is an excellent local grassroots football club in our region and we are delighted to work with them.

The relationship with Headingley AFC is incredibly important to us. Football for the vast majority isn't about a career as a professional, it's about playing the game, team mates, fitness, competition and something to enjoy being part of no matter what the level. Headingley AFC are a successful club on the pitch, demonstrating a real professional attitude towards the game and share many of the same attitudes at senior football level as we do in junior football.

We believe this relationship will provide many benefits to both clubs going forward and we look forward to working with them on other future initiatives.

Headingley AFC were awarded the West Riding FA Grassroots Club of the Year 2020, a fantastic achievement and we congratulate them on this award.
